Discovery Arts brings "Arts Adventures" to children with cancer and life threatening illness while they are in the hospital receiving treatment. We are looking for Volunteer Program Assistants to support our programs in Orange, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Fountain Valley and Mission Viejo. Background in the Arts, very organized person needed.


Programs held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 1:30 and 4:00 pm. Hospital location TBD.

Tickets are now available to see Peter Pan at the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts on Friday June 22, 2012, at 8PM, followed by an exclusive VIP Reception with Cathy Rigby. Proceeds of these special package tickets will go to benefit Discovery Arts. Cathy Rigby, star of Peter Pan continues to sprinkle fairy dust on children battling cancer as Spokesperson and Board Member for Discovery Arts, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings the healing power of the arts to children with cancer and life threatening illness.

A limited number of tickets are available for fans of Peter Pan including a special VIP Reception to meet Cathy Rigby in person. This exclusive package includes orchestra seating to the Friday June 22, 2012 performance of Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan at the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, California.  Tickets for this benefit performance and VIP Reception can only be purchased by calling Discovery Arts at (714) 637-1774 or contacting Discovery Arts’ Program Manager, Nancy Marshall at nmarshall@discoveryarts.org.  Tickets are $100 per person. About Cathy Rigby: Cathy Rigby earned a Tony nomination when she starred in the 35th Anniversary production of Peter Pan on Broadway. Subsequently, her multiple talents have been lauded on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre as the Cat-In-The-Hat in Seussical the Musical. Other National and Regional tours include Annie Get Your Gun, Meet Me In St. Louis, South Pacific, Paint Your Wagon, The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Most recently Cathy Starred in AR Gurneys Silvia, to rave reviews at the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts.

Some of Rigby’s dramatic television movie credits include the “Perfect Body,” “Hard To Read,” “The Great Wallendas,” “Triathlon,” and the Emmy-nominated “Peter Pan” for A&E. A two-time Olympic gymnast, Cathy Rigby is the first American woman to win a medal in the World Gymnastics Competition and holds 12 international medals, eight of them gold.  Cathy worked with ABC as a gymnastic commentator for 18 years. ABC-TV’s venerable “Wide World of Sports” named her one of America’s Most Influential Women in Sports. “Be a Super Hero for Halloween” by Donating a Costume to a Child Receiving Cancer Treatment

Pennypickle's Workshop, at the Temecula Children's Museum, in Old Town Temecula has joined with Discovery Arts to be a drop-off point for people donating Halloween costumes to children who are in the hospital undergoing cancer treatment.

Discovery Arts is asking for the communities’ participation and is encouraging others to honor children who are in the hospital receiving treatment for cancer or other life threatening diseases, by dropping off costumes at Pennypickle’s Workshop in Old Town Temecula until November 11, 2011.

“If you happen to be out and see costumes on sale during the Halloween season, keep us in mind. The girls love to be pretty princesses and the boys love to be strong superheroes. The children become very attached to their costumes and they are a great source of fantasy for them when their lives are disrupted by the unthinkable. We give our children a brand new costume each and every time they are in the hospital, all year long. They LOVE them... they sleep in them, they do shows in them, and we’ve even had one of our patients arrive in an ambulance at the hospital dressed in her Cinderella costume!! We are thrilled that Pat Camerchero of Pennypickle’s Workshop so kindly offered to have the Temecula Children’s Museum as a drop off point, said Discovery Arts Executive Director Marilyn Clements.

Pennypickle’s Workshop, at the Temecula Children’s Museum is located at 42081 Main Street in Old Town Temecula. Pennypickle's gift shop is operated by the Friends of the Temecula Children's Museum, a group of volunteers charged with aiding Pennypickle's Workshop with fundraising and sponsorship opportunities that support operations and programs at the museum.
