Discovery Arts Bedside Adventure Kits
Our Beside Adventure Kits are filled with a variety of age appropriate art materials and fun creative projects. Each and every child receives a Bedside Adventure Kit. For those children too ill to participate in the group program, a Discovery Arts team member brings the magic directly to their bedside for their very own Arts Adventure. Additional kits are also provided to the hospitals for children to enjoy when Discovery Arts is not on site.

Discovery Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that brings the healing power of the arts to children with cancer, serious blood disorders and life threatening illness while they are in the hospital receiving treatment. Our “Arts Adventures” bring a tremendous amount of joy to the children and their families. We bring a hug sigh of relief right to the center of the pressure-cooker of cancer treatment.

ABC Sports for 18 years, providing expert commentary on the sport of gymnastics around the world. ABC's Wide World of Sports named her one of “America’s Most Influential Women in Sports.
After she retired from Sports, she embarked on a new career in performing arts. On Broadway, she starred as the title role in Peter Pan in 1991 and 1998, and in Seussical the Musical as Cat-In-The-Hat in 2002. Cathy has been honored with the National Broadway Theatre Award, “Ovation” Lifetime Achievement Award the 2004 Distinguished Lifetime Service Award from The League of American Theatres and Producers. Created on the beach, where the soul meets the sand, Beach Barre Yoga is a fusion of Yoga, Pilates, ballet sculpting, and non-impact cardio that will tone, lift and reshape the body while focusing and calming the mind. The class will guide you from strength and muscle building postures that work the legs, abdominals and arms to yoga postures that release and lengthens the body and soothes the mind. Set to energetic music for building and gentle rhythms to release, this class is a cardiovascular class that utilizes your own body weight for resistance to perform small isometric movements that target and overload the muscles to point of fatigue, and then muscles are elongated and released through the invigorating Yoga postures. Experience results in just a few classes.

Katie Cline, Program Coordinator, Missouri
Our newest member of the family and volunteer Program Coordinator for our programs in Springfield, Missouri. The very talented Katie came to us by way of Cathy Rigby when Katie performed in "Peter Pan" in Branson and was the "wrangler" for the kids in the show. She is a professional musical theater performer and she is a perfect fit for us! She is full of energy and talent and we know she is going to reach even more children as time goes by!!
Katie has had a passion for the arts since she was a young girl. She has been awarded several "Best of Show" awards wth her use of acrylic painting and has also been blessed to play several note worthy Theater roles such as: Charlotte in Charlotte's Web, Nick Bottom in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream, Erzulie the Goddess of Love in Once on This Island, and recently coordinated a Discovery Arts Fundraising raffle alongside Cathy Rigby in the summer 2010 run of Peter Pan. Katherine will soon be attending art school.

are in need of local artists willing to donate their art work for a
silent art auction that will be held at Vintage Paris in Hollister, MO.
All of the proceeds will go 100% to Discovery Arts, a charity that
brings the healing power of music, art, drama, and dance to children who
are in the hospital with serious illnesses. Funds raised will directly benefit the children of St John's Children Hospital in Springfield, MO.
The Art Auction will take place at Vintage Paris Coffee and Wine on Saturday March 19, 2011 beginning at 4PM CMT.
Whether you are an artist wanting to donate art, or someone willing to attend the art auction and buy some beautiful local art, we would love to have you!! School and extracurricular activities such as dance, music and art are severely curtailed or suspended: interaction with other children decreases significantly; physical activity is limited, at best; and the demands of critical illness consume their lives. The emotional trauma they experience is enormous. We have learned that our programs also provide critical emotional support to the children’s families.

Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan is coming the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts on Friday June 22, 2012, at 8PM, followed by an exclusive VIP Reception with the cast. Proceeds of these special package tickets will go to benefit Discovery Arts. Cathy Rigby, star of Peter Pan continues to sprinkle fairy dust on children battling cancer as Spokesperson and Board Member for Discovery Arts, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings the healing power of the arts to children with cancer and life threatening illness.
A limited number of tickets are available for fans of Peter Pan including a special VIP Reception to meet Cathy Rigby in person. This exclusive package includes orchestra seating to the Friday June 22, 2012 performance of Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan at the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, California. Discovery Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that brings the healing power of the arts to children with cancer, serious blood disorders and life threatening illness while they are in the hospital receiving treatment. Dear Friends,
On September 27th, we will be riding on the Carousel of Possible Dreams at South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, CA to raise $10,000 in support of Arts Adventures for 100 children with life threatening illnesses. I have taken on the challenge to jump on the carousel and help my team raise resources for this important event. With your support, our team can do it!
Discovery Arts provides the healing power of the arts to children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses while they are hospitalized for treatment. Our programs, called Arts Adventures, are fun, creative adventures in music, dance, art and drama that strengthen the emotional health of critically ill children and positively impact their treatment and recovery. All of our programs and services are offered free of charge to the hospitals, patients and their families.
Our Possible Dream is to be able to provide additional new "Arts Adventures" for 100 children with cancer in southern California. Our fundraising goal is $10,000 (or more!), which will help provide additional new Arts Adventures Programs to the children hospitalized at six different southern California hospitals. With your help, we can continue to provide the joy and healing benefits of the arts to many more critically ill children.
